Dr. Kayse Shrum is a physician, educator, and trailblazing leader who made history as the first woman to lead Oklahoma State University and a medical school in the state. She previously served as president of OSU Center for Health Sciences, where she expanded rural and tribal health initiatives, including the creation of the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Cherokee Nation. In 2019, she was appointed Oklahoma Secretary of Science and Innovation, shaping statewide health and research policy. In July 2025, she begam a new role as Chief Health Strategy Officer for the Chickasaw Nation, focusing on transformative rural health initiatives.
